Some of you social media superstars may have spotted that Instagram has dropped its ‘Following’ tab.

The feature displayed your friends’ recent activity, allowing you to see what posts your connections had liked or commented on.

The long-standing feature was once the only way you could keep up to date with what your followers were doing. But times have changed and the introduction of the ‘Explore’ tool – or magnifying glass – has proved really popular.

Instagram bosses say they are always striving to keep the app as simple as possible, and saw the ‘Following’ tab as redundant. The feature should be removed from all users this week.
